The November edition of Creative Corner lands at that familiar crossroads of closing chapters and setting up what’s next. With year-end deadlines approaching and new projects taking shape, the studio has been focused on refining final details, mapping priorities for early 2026, and carving out space to recharge. A week in Iceland offers the perfect reset before returning home for Thanksgiving and a strong creative finish to the year.

We open with the Umbrella Art Fair, returning to Washington, D.C. with more than 100 artists, curators, and makers redefining contemporary art. This free, three-day event blends global talent with the city’s creative pulse—spotlighting works that challenge norms, celebrate independence, and blur the line between exhibition and community gathering.

The Conference Spotlight turns to Design Miami/, celebrating its 20th anniversary under the curatorial theme Make. Believe. Bringing together top galleries, designers, and collectors, the fair continues to push the boundaries of collectible design across its Miami and Paris editions. From conceptual furniture to sculptural objects, this global platform remains a cornerstone for anyone working at the intersection of art, culture, and design innovation.

In Trend Watch, we highlight the renewed rise of serif fonts, marking a shift away from the long reign of minimalist sans-serifs. Designers across branding, editorial, and digital platforms are embracing serifs for their warmth, character, and typographic sophistication. The result is a new era of expressive, personality-rich typography that balances tradition with contemporary design sensibilities.

Our Design Resource features The Angry Designer, a candid, unfiltered podcast hosted by Massimo Zefferino and Shawn Carlisle. Tackling the realities of being a designer today—from burnout and bad feedback to AI disruption and ageism—the show delivers sharp insights, humor, and industry truth-telling that feels equal parts therapy and education.

In this month’s Studio Rec, we spotlight Storyworth, a beautifully simple platform for preserving family stories through weekly prompts and end-of-year hardcover books. A personal favorite and meaningful gift recommendation, Storyworth stands out as a tool for memory-keeping, legacy building, and capturing the voices we wish we could hold onto forever.

The What’s in the Oven section showcases early creative work for A Vintage Affair 2026, now soaring with a hot-air-balloon meets map-centric theme. With branding locked, the studio is shifting to detailed printed materials, event collateral, and presentation pieces that bring this beloved annual fundraiser to life—year two with even more creative responsibility.

Closing out the edition, the Studio Openings section offers limited availability for small end-of-year projects—quick campaigns, refreshed print pieces, or anything that needs polishing before budgets reset in January.

Packed with design trends, art fair insights, collectible design highlights, typographic direction, creative resources, and studio news, this issue of Creative Corner captures the thoughtful momentum of year-end creativity and the inspiration that fuels what’s coming next.
