This July edition of Creative Corner is all about exploration—creative, historical, and literal. From researching antique maps for A Vintage Affair 2026 to developing discovery decks for emerging boating brands, the studio has been steeped in nostalgia, travel-inspired visuals, and new directions in brand strategy. Summer inspiration has been plentiful, especially with time spent on the water—my favorite place to reset and recharge the creative engine.
We kick off with Bubble Planet, the new immersive exhibition in Washington, D.C. This multi-sensory experience merges oversized bubbles, VR landscapes, and interactive installations to create a playful, dreamlike universe that appeals to both adults and kids. It’s an exhibit designed to spark wonder, creativity, and a welcome moment of escapism.
In our Conference Spotlight, we turn to CreativeMornings, highlighting the Baltimore chapter’s July talk featuring multimedia artist Safiyah Cheatam and designer Dan Flounders. Their discussion centers on archives—how personal and public histories shape identity, influence storytelling, and inspire meaningful creative work. With CreativeMornings chapters worldwide, this global community remains a free, open invitation to reconnect with inspiration.
This month’s Trend Watch features the resurgence of ink traps in typography. Once strictly functional, these notches have become highly stylized, giving typefaces visual edge and distinction. Brands and designers are embracing ink traps for expressive identity systems, bold packaging, and modern typographic storytelling.
Under Designers to Watch, we spotlight Made by James, a UK-based logo designer known for his unapologetically honest creative process and standout branding work. His clarity, boldness, and behind-the-scenes transparency continue to influence the global design community.
The Studio Rec offers a playful summer pick: Hues and Cues, a color-based board game that sharpens visual intuition and sparks creative thinking—ideal for designers and anyone who loves a good challenge.
In What’s in the Oven, we share a community-focused story: a local realtor sponsoring the beloved neighborhood tradition Hot Dog Fridays. It’s a lighthearted reminder that the best creative storytelling often lives in small, joyful moments—dogs, neighbors, and warm summer nights.
The newsletter closes with studio openings for mid-to-late summer project starts, inviting brands looking for design support—whether for campaigns, rebrands, or full visual rollouts—to begin the conversation.
Packed with design insights, creative trends, event highlights, exhibit recommendations, and studio news, this edition of Creative Corner is crafted for creatives, marketers, brand leaders, and anyone hungry for inspiration wrapped in a summer glow.
